William H. Farley, Jr. received a B.A. cum laude from Yale University . He attended Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar and earned his J.D. from Yale University Law School. Following law school, he joined McDermott, Will & Emery where he specialized in commercial litigation. He has a broad based corporate counseling, commercial litigation practice including defending architects, engineers and doctors in malpractice actions, construction litigation, banking law including letters of credit and commercial disputes of various kinds including creditor’s rights.
Mr. Farley was recruited by the administration of
Mayor Harold Washington to become First Assistant
Corporation Counsel for the City of Chicago. He was
next appointed General Counsel of the Chicago Transit
Authority where he was responsible for directly advising
the Chairman of the Board, the President and Senior
Management regarding legal issues arising out of all
aspects of the finances operation and capital development
programs of the Authority.
Mr. Farley is a former partner with Jenner &
Block. At Jenner, he specialized in corporate counseling,
commercial litigation, products liability, government
contracting and regulation, transportation law, environmental
counseling and litigation and tort litigation. More
recently, he served as Senior Claims Attorney for
the Attorneys’ Liability Assurance Society,
Inc., a nation-wide mutual company insuring America’s
largest law firms against a variety of multi-million
dollar malpractice claims in diverse areas of the
law.
Immediately prior to joining Gonzalez Saggio &
Harlan LLP, Mr. Farley was a partner with a Chicago-based
boutique law firm where he specialized in corporate
counseling, commercial litigation, products liability,
construction litigation, government contracting and
regulation, transportation law, and tort litigation.
He is a past President of the Lawyers Trust Fund of Illinois, a past Chairman of the Legal Affairs Committee of the American Public Transit Association and presently serves as a Commissioner of the Illinois Racing Board. He is a partner of the firm.
