Kathleen
M. Paustian received a B.A. in Journalism from
the University of South Dakota and a J.D. from the University
of Florida College of Law. She focuses her practice
on employment law. She defends employers against claims
of harassment, discrimination, wrongful termination,
breach of contract, defamation, and intentional and
negligent infliction of emotional distress. Ms. Paustian
provides advisory counseling to clients with the goal
of lawsuit avoidance. Her practice also includes corporate
and commercial litigation.
She serves on the Board of Directors of the North
Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce and is a founder of
The Women’s Forum. Ms. Paustian also serves
on the boards of the Southern Nevada chapter of the
National Association of Women Business Owners and
the Nevada State Council of the Society for Human
Resource Management. She is a charter member of the
Nevada Supreme Court Settlement Program, having been
appointed as a settlement judge by the Supreme Court
in 1997. In 2002, she was appointed to the Nevada
Standing Committee on Judicial Ethics and Election
Practices and in 2003 was elected Vice-Chair. She
is a member of the Nevada and Clark County Bar Associations
and served on the Clark County Bar Continuing Legal
Education Committee for eight years. Ms. Paustian
is a member and former officer of the Southern Nevada
Women Attorneys.
Ms. Paustian’s professional memberships include
the Clark County Bar Association, American Bar Association,
and the Southern Nevada Association of Women Attorneys.
She is admitted to practice in Florida; Nevada; U.S.
District Court, District of Nevada; and U.S. Court
