Darryl
Tom received his J.D. from Northwestern School
of Law in 1995, where he was Note and Comment Editor
for the Journal of International Law and Business. He
also received an A.B. in Economics from Cornell University
in 1992. Mr. Tom has served as underwriters' counsel
and co-bond counsel for municipal finance matters on
behalf of issuers including the City of Chicago, the
Chicago Park District and the Chicago Transit Authority.
As underwriters' counsel, he has prepared documents
such as opinion letters, bond purchase agreements, agreements
among underwriters, blue sky surveys, and official statements.
As bond counsel, he has prepared various closing certificates
and opinions. Previously, Mr. Tom was a founding partner
of Burris, Wright, Slaughter & Tom, LLC. He is currently
President of the Chinese American Bar Association, and
he has been heavily involved in the local Asian community.
He serves as director of the Asian American Alliance,
Vice President and director of the Chinatown Chamber
of Commerce, as director of the Chinese American Service
League, and past executive vice-president of the Organization
of Chinese Americans Chicago Chapter. He was also a
Leadership Greater Chicago fellow from 1999-2000. He
is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois,
and he has been admitted to the trial bar of the U.S.
District Court, Northern District of Illinois. TRANSACTIONAL.
