Charles Wintersteen represents employers and individuals with respect to all aspects of the immigration system in the United States. Mr. Wintersteen focuses his immigration practice in representing health care providers throughout the United States in obtaining authorization to hire health care professionals from abroad. Mr. Wintersteen also provides advice and representation to employers with respect to I-9 compliance issues, applications for permanent labor certification before the Department of Labor, immigrant and nonimmigrant petitions to the USCIS, and visa applications before United States Consulates. Mr. Wintersteen is a frequent speaker at immigration law conferences and served from 2005 through 2008 as the co-chair of the American Immigration Lawyers Association liaison committee with the Chicago District Office of the USCIS.
Mr. Wintersteen is a 1991 graduate of DePaul University College of Law and holds M.A. and B.A. degrees in history from the University of Colorado and the University of Oregon, respectively. Mr. Wintersteen was admitted to practice by the Illinois Supreme Court in November 1991 and is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Seventh and Eleventh Circuits. Mr. Wintersteen is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and is active as a board member, volunteer trainer, and pro bono advocate for several community and immigrant rights organizations in Chicago.
