Mary Chavez-Muramatsu received a B.M.E. from the University of Denver, a M.M. from the University of Miami and a J.D. from the University of Denver College of Law. Ms. Chavez is a member of the Iowa State Bar Association of which she was appointed a member of the Women and Minorities Committee, and she is the President of the Polk County Women Attorneys Association. She is a Board Member of the Institute For Social and Economic Development (ISED), and was appointed by Governor Vilsack to serve as a Commissioner on the Iowa Latino Affairs Commission. Ms. Chavez is admitted to practice in both Colorado and Iowa as well as in the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa. Prior to joining the firm, she served as a criminal prosecutor in the Denver District Attorney’s office, represented indigent clients at the Legal Aid Society of Polk County, and served as an employment attorney and legislative lobbyist for the State of Iowa. Ms. Chavez is fluent in Spanish.
