Biography

Benjamin C. Grawe’s practice focuses on environmental compliance and enforcement matters, land use, and business organizations. His relevant experience includes advising clients on compliance and enforcement issues arising under the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, CERCLA, RCRA, EPCRA, and related state environmental laws and regulations. Mr. Grawe has advised clients on personal and corporate successor liability under CERCLA; the treatment, storage, and transportation of hazardous wastes; and the defense of contamination claims under various environmental laws, state and federal remediation actions, Wisconsin’s Green Tier, and EPA’s self-disclosure policy.

He is co-author of Environmental and Real Estate Law, Volume 2, of the State Bar of Wisconsin’s Business Advisor Series, and editor of the Wisconsin chapter of the LexisNexis publication Brownfields Law and Practice – The Cleanup and Redevelopment of Contaminated Land. He is a frequent lecturer on environmental issues throughout the state.

Mr. Grawe received a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and earned his J.D. from the Vermont Law School. Mr. Grawe received master’s training in environmental law and holds a certificate from the University of Wisconsin’s Gaylord Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies.

Mr. Grawe was selected for inclusion on the Wisconsin Rising Star℠ list in both 2008 and 2009. He is admitted to practice in Wisconsin and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin. He is a member of the Milwaukee and American Bar Associations, as well as the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Eastern District Bar Association of Wisconsin. Mr. Grawe is a member of the Board of Directors of the Friends of Pheasant Branch, a non-profit organization located in Middleton, Wisconsin.
