Keith L. Borders has an extensive background in the fields of corporate litigation management, strategic planning, diversity & inclusion, sales operations, employment law, human resources, talent management, corporate governance, change management, business transactions, joint ventures, outsourcing, vendor management, due diligence and regulatory compliance. This experience has made him adept at facilitating community, governmental, and corporate winning collaborations. Through his commitment to the growth and sustainability of minority-owned businesses and professionals, he has contributed to the measurable success outcomes and goals of organizations and individuals.
Prior to joining Gonzalez Saggio & Harlan, Mr. Borders held several positions over 17+ years at Luxottica Retail, including Regional Vice President of Brand Operations; Vice President of Associate Relations and Diversity and Human Resources Compliance; and Associate Vice President of the Legal Department. While at Luxottica, he formed the Sears Optical diversity and inclusion team to develop and execute actions that resulted in enhanced associate, customer, and patient experience, as well as chartering and creating a Diversity Counsel with the goal of developing best practices and embedding strategies throughout the entire Luxottica Retail culture and business functions. Mr. Borders also provided human resource expertise, guiding the interpretation and execution of policies and procedures, recruiting, labor and employment law, performance management, compensation and benefits, workplace practice, risk assessments, and wage and hour compliance. Within Luxottica’s legal department, he steered employment law, employment litigation, and regulatory compliance for North American operations.
Prior to Luxottica, Mr. Borders managed all employment-related litigations, EEO and administrative claims, contracts, regulatory compliance, antitrust, special events marketing advertising, and loss prevention for a regional division of Federated Department Stores/Macy’s. He also served as a Civil Rights Division Attorney for the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., where he achieved the coveted honor of being selected for the Attorney General’s Honor Program. Mr. Borders also received the Special Achievement Award and Certificate of Commendation during his tenure at the Department of Justice for exceptional performance.
Mr. Borders has been recognized with many distinct honors, including, Keynote Panelist on “Keys to Success” for the National Society for Hispanic MBAs (2009); Chair and Master of Ceremony of the Cincinnati Youth Collaborative Annual Gala (2009) and Keynote Speaker (2008); the Conference Board “Best in Class” Diversity Measurement Program Subject Matter Expert (2008); Cincinnati NAACP Wright-Overstreet Award for Community Service (2002); Cincinnati Applause Magazine’s Trailblazer Award (2002); and Cincinnati Citizens Police Review Panel Chair (1999-2001).
Mr. Borders is a frequent speaker and trainer, presenting topics in such areas and issues as Human Resources, Legal, Diversity & Inclusion, Employee Relations, Compliance/Risk Management, and Sales Operations. Presentations have included:
He is an active member of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, Alpha Delta Boule; Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM); and the American, Wisconsin, and Cincinnati Bar Associations. Mr. Borders’ memberships have also included the Cincinnati European American Chamber of Commerce; Cincinnati Youth Collaborative (Board of Directors and HR Subcommittee); Cincinnati African American Chamber of Commerce; and the Cincinnati Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Borders earned his J.D. at the University of Wisconsin Law School and a B.A. in Public Administration at the University of Oklahoma. He is admitted to practice in Wisconsin.
