Charles H. Wintersteen

Biography

Charles H. Wintersteen represents employers and individuals with respect to all aspects of the immigration system in the United States. Mr. Wintersteen focuses his immigration practice in representing health care providers throughout the United States in obtaining authorization to hire health care professionals from abroad.

Mr. Wintersteen also provides advice and representation to employers with respect to I-9 compliance issues, applications for permanent labor certification before the Department of Labor, immigrant and nonimmigrant petitions to the USCIS, and visa applications before United States Consulates. He is a frequent speaker at immigration law conferences and served from 2005 through 2008 as the co-chair of the American Immigration Lawyers Association liaison committee with the Chicago District Office of the USCIS.

He is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and is active as a board member, volunteer trainer, and pro bono advocate for several community and immigrant rights organizations in Chicago. Mr. Wintersteen is an adjunct professor teaching an immigration law course at Chicago-Kent College of Law.

Mr. Wintersteen earned his J.D. at DePaul University College of Law, holds an M.A. from the University of Colorado, and a B.A. in History from the University of Oregon. Mr. Wintersteen is admitted to practice in Illinois, the Illinois Supreme Court, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Seventh and Eleventh Circuits.
