Gerardo (Jerry) H. Gonzalez’ practice includes litigation, transactional, and minority business related issues. He has also drafted and negotiated contracts, structured business deals and has a special practice with diverse businesses. Mr. Gonzalez has tried many cases and has spoken regarding litigation trends and diversity issues in the legal profession. Mr. Gonzalez received a B.B.A. in Finance and Marketing from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Business and a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School, where he served as an Editor of the Wisconsin International Law Journal.
Mr. Gonzalez is admitted to practice in Wisconsin, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana, Trial Bar for the Northern District of Illinois, District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth and Seventh Circuits. Mr. Gonzalez is fluent in Spanish.

Mr. Gonzalez is a recipient of the State Bar of Wisconsin President’s Award. He has been selected for inclusion on the Wisconsin Super Lawyers® list for the past several years and was selected to the National Product Liability Advisory Council. He is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, an invitation-only trial lawyer honorary society consisting of less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers. Mr. Gonzalez enjoys an AV Preeminent® rating by Martindale-Hubbell, and he was selected as a “2013 Wisconsin Top Rated Lawyer” in Bankruptcy and General Practice based on his rating. He was named Hispanic Professional of the Year; to Wisconsin’s Leaders in the Law and also awarded The Partners in Profit Award of Excellence.
Boards & Services:
Mr. Gonzalez is a founder of the law firm and served as Managing Partner or Co-Managing Partner for twenty-two years. He was recommended by the White House to a three-year term on the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago Board of Directors, where he served on the Executive Committee of this multi-billion dollar bank. The bank had over $65 billion in assets during his tenure. Mr. Gonzalez has served on numerous non-profit boards, including having served on the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce, along with CEOs from other major Milwaukee area corporations. He also served on the Roundy’s Foundation Board of Directors and St. Charles Youth and Family Services (including as board chair for seven years).
Mr. Gonzalez has founded organizations or programs and has served on boards and committees that promote diversity. He has held leadership positions as follows: American Bar Association Minority Counsel Program - Steering Committee; appointed to the Committee on Judicial Election, a committee constituted by then Governor Tommy Thompson and Supreme Court Chief Justice Shirley S. Abrahamson and designed as a think tank to investigate ways to increase racial and ethnic diversity among Wisconsin judges; recently he was selected to the State of Wisconsin Governor’s Judicial Selection Committee by Governor Scott Walker; he is a founder of the State Bar of Wisconsin Diversity Counsel Program, acting as Chair of the program from 1995 through 2005. Mr. Gonzalez served as a Board Member for the National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF), which he co-founded. Mr. Gonzalez has served as an advocate for strengthening communities through business inclusion, including by providing pro bono legal services to the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Wisconsin.
