Hugo P. Rojas

Biography

Hugo P. Rojas practices immigration law, litigation, and insurance litigation and defense. He is experienced in representing business and individual immigration clients before the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Department of Labor, the U.S. Department of State, and the Executive Office of Immigration Review of the U.S. Department of Justice. He has helped business clients with several types of employment-based non-immigrant visas, including H-1B, and L-1 intra-company transfers, as well as J-1 visas. He also has experience with every phase of the employment-based immigration process, including labor certification, E-1 and E-2 visas, and adjustment/change of status applications. He has also advised clients faced with all manner of compliance issues, consular processing, obtaining permanent residency, citizenship applications, and removal.

He has also reviewed and analyzed purchasing contracts, service contracts, supply contracts, and on site inventory agreements, both in English and Spanish, for a Fortune 1000 Manufacturer’s Operations in Mexico. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Rojas was the Executive Director of Common Cause/Illinois, where he was responsible for state and regional advocacy efforts, which led to the passage of campaign finance, election, and ethics reform laws.

Mr. Rojas received a B.S. in Business Administration at the University of Southern California and earned his J.D. from the University of
Wisconsin Law School, where he was Managing Editor for the Wisconsin International Law Journal. While at law school, he was also appointed to serve on the Faculty Tenure Committee and served as a board member for the Latino Law Student Association. Mr. Rojas is admitted to practice in Wisconsin; the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Wisconsin; and the U.S. District Court, Western District of Wisconsin. He is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association where he is active at the national and state levels. He is fluent in Spanish.
