Shari R. Manasseh is a member of the Firm’s Litigation group. Her practice includes defending companies in litigation matters in federal courts, state courts and administrative agencies. She is experienced in drafting and reviewing legal pleadings, contracts, and agreements, including motions, affirmations, and memoranda. Ms. Manasseh has negotiated deals and settlements, including on behalf of Fortune 500 Corporations. Additionally, she has experience with drafting subpoenas, document requests, interrogatories, and defending clients in oral depositions. Furthermore, she conducts and analyzes complex legal research on applicable statutory, regulatory, and case law.
Prior to joining Gonzalez Saggio & Harlan, Ms. Manasseh practiced in a Manhattan-based firm, where she practiced civil and commercial litigation. As an attorney with experience in both private practice and federal agencies, Ms. Manasseh’s experience domestically and internationally has trained her efficiently to represent her clients zealously.
While in law school, Ms. Manasseh excelled as Editor of her law journal, top oralist for an internationally renowned moot court competition in Vienna, Austria, and author of “Breaking the Cement: Venezuela’s Move to Nationalize CEMEX Leads to Dispute Over Arbitral Jurisdiction”, 3 Penn State Yearbook on Arbitration and Mediation 416 (2011). She has also served as the teaching assistant for foreign-educated attorneys obtaining their Master of Laws degree, served as a Brief Writer for a United States Supreme Court case, and has engaged in public interest work by working for two federal agencies in Washington, D.C.
She is a member of the Asian American Association Bar of New York, South Asian Bar Association of New York, Hispanic National Bar Association and Women’s Information Network. Ms. Manasseh’s civic activities include working as a volunteer assistant to an arbitrator in small claims court conducting arbitral proceedings and inquests, as well as acting as a legal consultant to provide small businesses with assistance in reviewing and drafting contracts. She is also a member of the Young Professionals Council for the 501(c)(3) community based organization, Children of Promise, NYC, dedicated to educating and empowering children of incarcerated parents.
Ms. Manasseh is licensed in New York and New Jersey, the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, with pending admission for Washington, D.C. She obtained her Juris Doctor from the Pennsylvania State University-Dickinson School of Law and completed her B.A. in Political Science from the prestigious Emory University. Ms. Manasseh is proficient in Spanish and conversant in Hindi.
