Jason S. Marin

Biography

Jason S. Marin is an intellectual property attorney with extensive experience in prosecution, portfolio management, and complex litigation. He has been practicing in the fields of patents, trademarks, copyright, trade secrets, and domain name disputes since 1999. During the course of his practice, Mr. Marin has prepared, prosecuted, monitored, enforced, and defended patents, trademarks, and copyrights in a wide range of industries. His clients operate in fields that include software design, pharmaceuticals, biotech, medical devices, computer hardware, computer technology, food and apparel, media, hedge funds, transportation, convention services and more.

His experience includes litigation of patent, trademark, counterfeiting, trade secrets, and IP related matters in U.S. District Courts, before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and before the International Trade Commission, as well as before ICANN for domain name disputes. Mr. Marin performs IP due diligence, counseling, and risk analysis for a variety of transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, licenses, transfers, divestures, and financing of IP intensive companies.

Mr. Marin is experienced in negotiating and drafting intellectual property related agreements, including financing, licensing, assignment, transfer of rights, software development, and linking, service, and acquisition agreements. He also regularly prepares freedom to operate, infringement, due diligence, and patent ability opinions.

Mr. Marin earned his J.D. at Fordham University School of Law, where he was an Editor of the Fordham International Law Journal. Following law school, he served as a law clerk for the Honorable Charles L. Brieant (dec.) of the United States District Court, Southern District of New York. He received a B.A. in Biology from Vassar College. Mr. Marin is admitted to practice in the State of New York, U.S. Patent Bar, and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
