Agnès Markarian Sullivan

Biography

Agnès Markarian Sullivan’s practice is focused on business litigation, intellectual property, healthcare litigation, and labor and employment litigation and counseling.

Ms. Sullivan has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in business and partnership disputes and has assisted both corporate and individual clients obtain favorable judgments, arbitration awards and settlements. She has represented physicians, independent practice associations and medical groups in matters involving unfair competition, fraud, billing disputes, contract disputes, and business and partnership disputes.

In 2009, she played an integral role in obtaining a favorable jury verdict against a large Southern California healthcare company for trade secret violations. In 2012 she served as trial counsel in a class action in the Central District of California and successfully defended claims of human trafficking brought against her clients. Ms. Sullivan has handled matters in both state and federal court, including adversary matters in bankruptcy court. She also has experience before various arbitration tribunals and second-chaired an arbitration hearing which resulted in an award of nearly $1 million for a client involved in partnership disputes. Ms. Sullivan has also advised employers on compliance issues and handbook development and frequently handles employment litigation matters involving wage and hour claims, workplace discrimination, harassment, and wrongful termination.

Recently, she assisted several clients successfully settle actions against their former employers. Ms. Sullivan has also handled several pro bono projects. She has worked with the Constitutional Rights Foundation and has assisted clients with guardianship matters though the Alliance for Children’s Rights.

Ms. Sullivan is a member of the American Bar Association, Health Law Section; Armenian Bar Association; Pasadena Bar Association; Iranian American Lawyers Association, Newsletter/Publications Committee Chair; UCLA Alumni Scholarship Committee, Chair, Glendale Area; and the Pasadena Bar Association. She was also a former Mentor of the VIP Mentors Program.

She received her J.D. from Loyola Law School and a B.A. from UCLA. Ms. Sullivan was selected for inclusion in the Southern California Rising Star℠ list by California Super Lawyers®, recognition granted to fewer than 2.5% of attorneys in the state. She is admitted to practice in California and the United State District Court, Central District of California. She speaks Armenian, Farsi, and German.
