Milton E. Lewis has advised clients in all manner of employment related issues for more than 30 years, with a specific focus on labor relations under the National Labor Relations Act. He has negotiated more than 100 union contracts with national and international unions on behalf of corporations and educational institutions throughout the United States. Mr. Lewis has represented numerous clients on matters of due diligence, layoffs, plant closings, WARN Act and effects bargaining.
His experience includes labor contract negotiations with international unions, such as IBT, UAW, USWA, UAW-Canada, and IAMAW; as well as employee relations matters involving labor arbitration, NLRB, EEOC, OFCCP, and OSHA cases.
Prior to joining Gonzalez Saggio & Harlan, Mr. Lewis practiced labor law with a firm located in the Southeast. In addition, he served as Vice President and General Counsel for a Fortune 500 Corporation, where he was responsible for all legal affairs, including labor arbitrations and negotiations.
For the past 15 years, he has handled labor matters for two of the leading private equity firms in the country. He has also served as in-house counsel for several educational institutions, which involved a multitude of collective bargaining units and union contract negotiations.
Mr. Lewis earned his J.D. at DePaul University College of Law, where earned a Law Equality and Policy (LEAP) Fellowship. He received a B.A., summa cum laude, from Wiley College. Prior to law school, Mr. Lewis served as a White House Summer Intern. He is admitted to practice law in Wisconsin and Michigan.
