Paul D. Manrique

Biography

Paul D. Manrique specializes his practice in the areas of litigation and corporate and transactional law. He currently provides defense counsel in premises liability and tort claims for the nation’s largest retailer. His litigation experience includes insurance defense, personal injury claims, breach of contract, and foreclosures.

Mr. Manrique’s corporate and transactional practice includes restructuring of corporations, stock issuances, assisting businesses in obtaining Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE), and Airport Concessionaire Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) certifications, and drafting bids for Requests for Proposals with Cook County and the City of Chicago.

Additionally, Mr. Manrique assisted in the evaluation of target companies for a corporate merger involving one of the nation’s leading diversified natural gas companies. He has also worked on a private/public finance project in obtaining funding from local, state, and federal governments in order to assist a corporation in creation of a green energy project.

Mr. Manrique earned his J.D. at the University of Wisconsin Law School and a B.S. from Michigan State University. While in law school, Mr. Manrique was a National Semi-Finalist on the Moot Court Team, chaired the Public Service Committee for the Student Bar Association, and was on the Executive Board of the Latino Law Students Association.

After earning his J.D., Mr. Manrique worked as a law clerk for the Lansing City Attorney’s Office, where he provided a full-range of support to the City Attorney related to complex litigation in the areas of civil rights, employment, contract, real estate, and tax law. Mr. Manrique gained additional legal experience as a summer associate at a Chicago-based litigation firm specializing in pre-trial preparation in the areas of commercial litigation, business disputes, and product liability. His background also includes positions as a legislative intern and legislative aide for a Michigan State Representative and a State Senator.

Mr. Manrique is an Auxiliary Board member of the Big Shoulders Fund and a member of the James Beard Foundation. He is also a member of the Hispanic National Bar Association, State Bar of Wisconsin, State Bar of Illinois, American Bar Association, and Chicago Bar Association. He is admitted to practice in Illinois and Wisconsin.
