Alexis F. Steinberg is a member of the Intellectual Property & Technology Law Group, concentrating her practice in the area of patents. As a summer associate at two law firms, she gained experience in the areas of patent prosecution and patent litigation. While in law school, Ms. Steinberg was a national champion in Intellectual Property in Giles Sutherland Rich Moot Court, was inducted into the Order of the Barristers, and was awarded the Justice Mack Kidd Award for Outstanding Appellate Advocacy.
Prior to joining Gonzalez Saggio & Harlan LLP, Ms. Steinberg practiced in the areas of litigation and appellate law at all levels of Texas courts from Justice Courts to the Supreme Court of Texas, in federal court, and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. She focused on business litigation, dealing with a variety of issues, including such areas as securities litigation, contracts, fiduciary duties, real estate, fraud, and libel/slander and drafted contracts and advised clients on business decisions regarding contracts and settlements. Ms. Steinberg has authored articles on topics including administrative searches, federal preemption, social media and libel, and business practices to prevent litigation.
As a former officer in the U.S. Navy, Ms. Steinberg was stationed at the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command in Charleston, SC and the USS O’Brien DD-975 in Yokosuka, Japan, where she qualified as a Surface Warfare Officer. She also trained as an Anti-Submarine Warfare Evaluator and Legal Officer. During her tenure with the Navy, she earned the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon, Navy Marksman Pistol Shot Ribbon, and Navy Marksman Rifleman.
Ms. Steinberg earned her J.D., with honors, at the University of Texas School of Law and an LL.M., Intellectual Property and Information Law, from the University of Houston Law Center. She earned a B.S. in Physics at the United States Naval Academy. She is a member of the Collin County Bar Association. Ms. Steinberg is admitted to practice in Texas, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Northern Districts of Texas, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the Supreme Court of Texas.
