Jack Schaedel attended a Breakfast Club presentation sponsored by State Assembly member Jimmy Gomez at Occidental College in Los Angeles on November 15, 2013, featuring Chief Justice of the California Supreme Court Tani Cantil-Sakauye. Justice Cantil-Sakauye is only the second female Chief Justice in California’s history and is the first Filipina-American to serve in her position. The Chief Justice spoke eloquently about the state’s judicial system, recent challenges it has faced due to significant budget cuts, and her priorities to facilitate greater and equal access to the courts through its buildings, online systems, and language services.
