Biography
Christopher L. Muzzo has years of experience as a litigator handling simple and complex litigation before federal and state trial and appellate courts in Ohio and Kentucky. Before joining Gonzalez Saggio & Harlan, he was co-founder of Hoskins & Muzzo LLP, and prior to that he spent twelve years at Dinsmore & Shohl, LLP in Cincinnati, where he was partner.
Mr. Muzzo has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of cases involving contracts, business torts, antitrust, negligence, professional and premises liability, non-compete and trade secret litigation, and complex litigation. He also served as an in-house litigation management attorney for one of the area’s largest companies, when he was “on loan” to General Electric Aviation for a six-month assignment. During this time at GE, Mr. Muzzo conducted internal compliance investigations and managed outside litigation counsel, gaining invaluable insight into how litigation fits into the big picture for a business and its in-house attorneys, and observing best practices from an industry leader and its outside attorneys across the country.
During his career, Mr. Muzzo has represented employers who want to enforce their rights against former employees with restrictive covenants, as well as employees and their new employers who are being pursued by former employers. He has represented a Fortune 50 company in pharmaceutical product liability litigation, and has been responsible for successfully running “bet-the company” litigation for a defense contractor accused of stealing the secrets of a competitor. He has successfully defended schools sued by students and parents seeking injunctions against the schools. Mr. Muzzo has also represented clients in personal injury litigation, as well as bankruptcy and estate planning.
Mr. Muzzo is a member of the American, Ohio, and Cincinnati Bar Associations, as well as the Cincinnati Academy of Leadership for Lawyers. His civic involvement includes the United Way Emerging Leaders Society, and he is also a tutor at Rothenberg Preparatory School.
Mr. Muzzo earned his J.D., cum laude, from Northwestern University School of Law and his B.A. from Northwestern University. He is admitted to practice in Ohio, Kentucky, the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio, U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
