Biography
David B. Carr is experienced in complex commercial litigation at both the state and federal levels, including insurance defense, contract disputes, construction claims, products liability, and medical malpractice defense. He has extensive experience overseeing and handling premises liability cases for Fortune 500 Companies, major retailers, and restaurants. Mr. Carr has successfully defended significant damage tort claims at mediation, as well as the successful defense of an automobile tort claim to jury verdict.
Mr. Carr has handled various commercial litigation matters, including foreclosure actions, replevins, liquidation of corporations, contract disputes, and bankruptcy workouts. He also provides defense of construction law claims for roofing and concrete contractors.
Mr. Carr has acted as a moderator for the American Bar Association Minority Council Program in programs entitled “Effective Practices for Enhancing the Collaborative Relationship Connecting In-House and Outside Counsel” and “Your Career’s Life Cycle & How to Get the Most from It.”
He is a member of the Board of Directors for Make-a-Wish Wisconsin, Urban Ecology Center, and the Marquette University Law School Alumni Association. He is also a member of the Marquette University Law School Diversity Recruitment Committee, DRI, Claims and Litigation Management Alliance, American Bar Association, and State Bar of Wisconsin. From 2008-2014, Mr. Carr served as Chairman of the Milwaukee County Ethics Board and is a former Board member of the Legal Aid Society.
Mr. Carr has been selected for inclusion in the Wisconsin Rising Star℠ list each year since 2011 by Wisconsin Super Lawyers®, recognition granted to fewer than 2.5% of attorneys in the state. He was also named a “2011 Up and Coming Lawyer” by the Wisconsin Law Journal. He earned his J.D. from Marquette University Law School and received a B.B.A. in Marketing from Butler University (Indianapolis), where he was a Morton Finney Leadership Scholar. Mr. Carr gained experience during law school as a judicial intern for Circuit Court Judge Jeffrey A. Wagner. He is admitted to practice in Wisconsin State Courts, as well as the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin.
