Biography
David R. Saggio is a founding partner of Gonzalez Saggio & Harlan. His corporate and transactional practice includes real estate, eminent domain, and tax matters. Mr. Saggio has significant experience in real estate transactions representing developers in connection with new construction and government entities in connection with condemnation. He has represented parties in exchange transactions and has co-authored ABA materials on the Like-Kind Exchange of Real Estate.
While in law school, Mr. Saggio worked in the Chicago office of Chapman & Cutler. At Chapman & Cutler, he participated in numerous sophisticated corporate financings and provided tax counseling to several of the firm’s major clients. These financings involved over $2,000,000,000. Immediately, following his graduation from law school, Mr. Saggio joined Winston & Strawn, a 475-lawyer firm based in Chicago, Illinois. During his tenure with Winston & Strawn, Mr. Saggio worked in the firm’s diverse tax department.
Mr. Saggio is an honors graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School, where he received Order of the Coif honors. Mr. Saggio’s professional memberships include the State Bar of Wisconsin, the American Bar Association, and the Seventh Circuit Bar Association. He is licensed to practice in Wisconsin, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin, the U.S. Court of Appeals Seventh Circuit, and the U.S. Tax Court. Mr. Saggio is fluent in Spanish and conversant in Italian.
