Biography
Matthew D. Golish focuses his practice in the area of litigation, with experience in the areas of commercial litigation, product liability defense, and white collar criminal matters. He represents large and small companies on matters concerning complex and multi-jurisdictional litigation, both nationally and locally. Mr. Golish consults with corporate clients on risk management and strategies for reducing exposure to claims and lawsuits. Clients have included manufacturers, transportation companies, pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, professionals, and individuals. He has also represented hospitals and health care providers in numerous professional liability cases.
Mr. Golish began his career as an Assistant Prosecutor for Cuyahoga County, where he obtained considerable trial and appellate experience. There, he tried more than 75 cases to verdict, successfully argued 25 appeals, and conducted three large-scale grand jury investigations. He also gained experience as a Judicial Extern for the Honorable Nathaniel R. Jones, United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
He was the Head Coach of John Hay’s Varsity Mock Trial Team (City Champions 2008 and 2009) and an Instructor at Cuyahoga Community College’s Women in Transition Program. Additionally, he is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive). Mr. Golish has made presentations on topics such as white collar crime and fact discovering in the information age.
Mr. Golish was selected for inclusion in the 2013 and 2014 Ohio Rising Star℠ list by Ohio Super Lawyers®, recognition granted to fewer than 2.5% of attorneys in the state. Mr. Golish earned his J.D. from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and a B.B.A., Accountancy with a concentration in Finance, from the University of Notre Dame. He is a member of the Ohio State and Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Associations, as well as a member of the Ohio Association of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Golish is licensed to practice in Ohio, the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Southern District of Ohio, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
