Biography
Gregory M. Wesley focuses his practice on Labor and Employment, Government Relations and Indian law. His experience includes litigating as lead counsel with respect to employment, labor and other civil litigation matters. Mr. Wesley routinely counsels employers about their employment practices, including employment contracts, employee handbooks, and policies and procedures. Mr. Wesley also conducts complex internal investigations and provides training and counsel on a wide spectrum of issues involving state and federal employment laws. In particular, he has extensive experience litigating employment discrimination claims. Additionally, Mr. Wesley regularly represents companies with high level government relations and public affairs issues.
Mr. Wesley is a Milwaukee County Supplemental Court Commissioner. He is a member of the Wisconsin State Bar Blue Ribbon Task Force on Diversity and a member of the Board of Directors of the following organizations: Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce, Milwaukee World Festivals, Inc. (“Summerfest”), Park Bank, United Way of Greater Milwaukee, Wisconsin Historical Foundation, YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee, and the Zoological Society of Milwaukee. Mr. Wesley is a former Chairman of the Milwaukee Urban League, a past President of the Wisconsin Association of African-American Lawyers, a former Director of the Southeast Wisconsin Professional Baseball Park District (“Miller Park”) and past Trustee of the Faye McBeath Foundation. He is currently a Trustee of the Medical College of Wisconsin and the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee. Mr. Wesley is an active member of the Greater Milwaukee Committee and the National Bar Association.
In 2010, he was elected as a Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America (LCA), Trial Honorary Society. In 2014, Mr. Wesley was elected as a Fellow of the Wisconsin Law Foundation, an honorary program recognizing members of the profession who are known by their peers for high achievements in their profession and outstanding contributions for the advancement and improvement of the administration of justice in the State of Wisconsin.
Mr. Wesley has regularly been recognized for his leadership in both the legal and business community to include the “2014 Community Service Award”, St. Francis Children’s Center; “2012 Outstanding Member of the Year”, Wisconsin Association of African-American Lawyers; The Milwaukee Business Journal “Power Book List” (2010, 2012); The Milwaukee Business Journal “Forty under 40 List” (2007); and Milwaukee Magazine’s “Under 35 Future Young Leaders List” (2002). He has also been recognized by Wisconsin Super Lawyers® (2006, 2007) as a “Rising Star℠.”
Mr. Wesley earned his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and received a B.S. from Indiana University-Bloomington. Mr. Wesley is admitted to practice in Wisconsin and the U.S. District Court of the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin and the Southern District of Indiana.
