Biography

Karma S. Rodgers is an Equity Partner and serves on the firm’s Executive Committee. She has provided extensive advice and counsel in a wide range of legal matters including contract negotiation, arbitration, unemployment, employment discrimination and wrongful termination claims. She has advised and assisted clients with developing human resource policy manuals, discipline and discharge decisions, formulation and implementation with various types of employment policies. Ms. Rodgers has conducted management seminars on legal implications of employment and management issues. She has extensive trial experience in most areas of civil litigation, including employment law, individual injury, insurance defense, and contract disputes.

Ms. Rodgers is AV Preeminent rated by Martindale-Hubbell, and she was selected as a “2013 Wisconsin Top Rated Lawyer” in Litigation and General Practice based on her rating. Prior to joining Gonzalez Saggio & Harlan LLP, Ms. Rodgers served as an attorney/conciliator with the State of Wisconsin Equal Rights Division and a Bankruptcy Panel Trustee for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. She also served as General Counsel for Bridgeman Foods, Inc. where she gained valuable real estate planning and zoning experience.

Ms. Rodgers is a past president of the American Bar Association’s - American Prepaid Legal Institute (API) and Wisconsin African American Lawyers Association. Ms. Rodgers has also served on many boards and committees including the Wisconsin State Bar Board of Governors, Office Management Section, Election Policy Committee, and Commission on Delivery of Legal Services. She also served on the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees.

Her community and civic involvement includes serving on the Board of the Wisconsin Trust Account Foundation Inc., Alzheimer’s Association of Southeastern Wisconsin, Milwaukee Library Foundation, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and the Psychology Examining Board (Appointed by the Wisconsin Governor), and the City Of Milwaukee Revolving Loan Committee (Appointed by the Mayor). Ms. Rodgers served as an officer for the Las Vegas Clark County Urban League – Board Counsel and the Links Incorporated, Milwaukee Chapter. Other past community and civic activities include serving as a member of Partners for the Future (a GMAC Program), Professional Dimensions, Y.M.C.A. Black Achievers Advisory Board, and Greater Milwaukee Committee (GMC).

Ms. Rodgers received a B.A. from Marquette University and a J.D. from Marquette University Law School. She is admitted to practice in Wisconsin, the U.S. District Court of the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin, U.S. Court of Appeals Seventh Circuit, and the U.S. Tax Court.
