Biography
Matthew A. Karp is a seasoned trial attorney with criminal and civil litigation experience, including representing one of the nation’s top hospitals in medical malpractice and premises liability cases. He has provided counsel for the nation’s third largest public health care system in medical malpractice cases, general liability and premises liability matters. His experience also includes representation of multi-national corporations in labor and employment matters involving allegations of internal theft and fraud. Mr. Karp began his legal career as an Assistant State Attorney in Miami-Dade County where he worked for four years and tried more than 100 trials, including 30 jury trials, at the misdemeanor and felony levels.
Mr. Karp earned his J.D. at the University of Florida, Levin College of Law, where he was a member of Justice Campbell Thornal Moot Court Executive Board and a member of the Journal of Law and Public Policy. He obtained his B.S. in Communication Studies from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. He is presently a member of the Florida, Dade County, and Broward County Bar Associations. Mr. Karp is also a member of the Cuban American Bar Association and a volunteer with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. He is admitted to practice in Florida and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
