Prior to joining Gonzalez Saggio & Harlan, Marcie B. Cornfield was an EEOC Honors Attorney. As such, she gained extensive experience in several departments throughout the agency. During her time in the Office of Legal Counsel, Ms. Cornfield drafted Enforcement Guidances and Compliance Manuals for Title VII, EPA and ADEA issues, including Enforcement Guidance on Fairness Issues in Mandatory Arbitration Agreements. Additionally, she reviewed proposed legislation, regulations, guidance, and policies to determine their impact on the EEOC’s statutory mandates and existing policies. She also decided and drafted FOIA appeals, as well as actively participated in the investigative intake process. During her time in the Milwaukee Area Office, Ms. Cornfield was a trial attorney. She worked on a number of ADEA and Title VII pattern and practice lawsuits and worked closely with the investigative unit. Such experience has provided her with a keen ability to monitor and predict EEOC trends and litigation efforts.

Ms. Cornfield’s current practice focuses on all aspects of equal opportunities and employment law, including age, sex, race, disability, color, national origin, and religious discrimination, retaliation, and harassment. She represents employers in various aspects of employment law, including the ADEA, Title VII, ADA, FLSA, FMLA, WFMLA and WFEA, providing both advice and counsel as well as actively litigating matters. Furthermore, Ms. Cornfield has successfully defended employers nationwide in public accommodation discrimination cases.

She has experience representing employers in all aspects of federal litigation, state administrative hearings, government audits (including DOL wage and hour audits), worker’s compensation hearings and unemployment hearings. Ms. Cornfield has represented several Fortune 500 Corporations in employment discrimination actions relating to discrimination, harassment, and retaliation before administrative agencies in the following states: Wisconsin, Iowa, Indiana, Nebraska, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Nevada, Ohio, Utah, Missouri, Texas, Washington, D.C. and Arizona. In addition, she has provided training to Human Resources professionals and managers.

Prior to attending law school, Ms. Cornfield was an AmeriCorps Vista Volunteer working in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in the Coordinated Students Teaching AIDS to Youth (“STAY”) Program.
