Appellate Practice

Gonzalez Saggio & Harlan’s Appellate Practice provides advice and counsel to clients when litigated controversies are likely to result in appeals and is fully integrated with the Firm’s litigation practice. This integrated and diverse practice structure provides a well-rounded perspective to handle matters to the advantage of clients in state and federal courts. Our team is comprised of skilled and creative advocates, analysts, and accomplished writers, and we view brief writing as an important central element of any appeal. Members of the appellate practice regularly brief and argue an array of complex legal issues and are experienced in eDiscovery methods and tools. Many of our attorneys have gained valuable experience by serving as law clerks to appellate judges. Our Appellate Practice includes former Wisconsin State Supreme Court Justice, Hon. Louis B. Butler, Jr., who brings a wealth of knowledge about the practical workings of the appellate system and is a valued resource to our clients, as well as our attorneys.

Our attorneys can monitor trials to assist in preserving the appellate record. We provide support to litigators and in-house counsel and offer appellate consulting in areas such as moot court, review and feedback on briefs, and providing advice to litigators, including preparing records.
