Heather A. Davis
 

Heather A. Davis graduated from Rice University in 1993 with a double B.A. in English and Managerial Studies and worked as an art gallery director and a marketing professional prior to attending law school. Ms. Davis received her J.D., with honors, in 2003 from the University of Texas School of Law and recently practiced in the environmental law department of Haynes and Boone, LLP in Houston, Texas. She has deep experience in environmental litigation matters, including: serving in a leading role in the successful defense of a major energy company against claims of historical neighborhood contamination, arguing the case in court against plaintiff’s motion for rehearing and plaintiff’s motion to consolidate case with an earlier filed case, and preparing the dispositive motion at the trial court level and appellee’s brief. Brooks v. Chevron, 2006 WL 1431227, Tex. App.–Corpus Christi, 2006 (pet. denied); prosecuting a breach of contract claim arising out of threatened releases of sulfuric acid from a national chemical storage company against an international chemical manufacturer, resulting in a favorable settlement for the client; serving as national counsel in defending a major energy company throughout the United States in complex toxic tort cases involving alleged exposures to benzene and butadiene at oil and gas and chemical refineries, including discovery management, client communication, motions practice, mediation and settlement negotiations, witness preparation, plaintiff and witness depositions, and trial strategy; defending multiple international pipeline companies against lawsuits by landowners claiming bodily injury and property damage resulting from alleged releases of crude oil in West Texas and New Mexico; preparing discovery responses and conducting research for trial briefs in federal court for Superfund cost recovery litigation between potentially responsible parties arising out of the Turtle Bayou site in East Texas.

Ms. Davis is currently expanding her practice to include environmental compliance and regulatory matters. Tabbed a “2006 Texas Rising Star” (top 2.5% of Best Up-And-Coming Attorneys in Texas), Ms. Davis has authored several articles on environmental law topics, including chapters on an overview of Texas environmental regulation and indoor air Quality for the 2005 edition of Texas Practice Series – Environmental Law.
