Government Relations Department

The Government Relations Group of Gonzalez Saggio & Harlan work with clients to develop successful government relations campaigns designed to enhance, preserve, and protect their businesses. Members of the firm that have received White House board appointments from both Republican and Democratic presidential offices. Our practice spans over numerous industries, including technology, gaming, energy, food and beverage, construction, and life sciences, to name a few.

In the strategic development stage of our government relations practice, we determine the most appropriate solutions designed to achieve our client's goals. We then proceed with a tailored approach to provide coalition building, conflict resolution, litigation avoidance, education, awareness, and community outreach services.

Our attorneys have worked with decision-makers at all levels of government, including local, state, national, and international. We have also worked with and consulted various governmental and political office holders, as well as other stakeholders of interest, as we seek to identify and provide solutions to issues confronting our clients.

Our attorneys are skilled at identifying and accessing appropriate governmental entities and decision-makers, and we possess the ability to take the necessary steps to achieve the outcomes desired by our clients. We use our government relations resources to develop alternative dispute resolution strategies designed to avoid litigation. We, nevertheless, have an experienced complex litigation group that can assist if the need arises.

The firm has worked with major corporations to help clients avoid being named in a lawsuit directed at an industry. We have engaged local aldermanic members, mayors of the major municipalities, as well as other stakeholders of interest. We have also lobbied national minority organizations, including the NAACP, the Urban League, the Hispanic National Bar Association, and La Raza to help resolve and lobby complex issues that are relevant to those organizations, as well as directly relevant to a constituent client

In addition, we have worked to avoid potential catastrophic employment situations that disproportionately affect minority employees by assisting companies in communicating with minority stakeholder organizations and government leaders to prevent employment disputes. As one of the largest minority-owned law firms in the nation, our network includes many major urban areas, as well as state governments. We also have relationships that enable us to be on top of or ahead of the trends and changing government regulations.
