R. Jeffrey Krill received a B.A., with distinction, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a J.D., graduating cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School, where he was recognized with Order of the Coif honors. Following law school, Mr. Krill was associated with the law firms of Michael, Best & Friedrich and later Godfrey & Kahn, both of Milwaukee. He is an experienced trial attorney having handled numerous trials as lead counsel and appellate briefs prepared as sole or principal author submitted to various courts of appeal. He has also taught trial practice and pretrial procedure at Marquette University Law School.
Mr. Krill’s practice is focused on complex commercial litigation and product liability matters, specifically multi-district litigation. His experience includes, but is not limited to, bankruptcy and workouts; toxic tort; ERISA, environmental, and food litigation; insurance defense; creditor claims; and professional liability and malpractice defense.
Mr. Krill has extensive bankruptcy litigation experience, including the representation of a real estate developer against a claim by a bankrupt contractor to have set aside and arbitration award dismissing the bankrupts claim against the developer. The representation also included prosecution of a claim against the bankrupt, negotiation of a multi-party settlement agreement with the bankrupt and other creditors, resolving both bankruptcy claims and non-bankruptcy claims.
Acting as senior litigation counsel to a Milwaukee-based international manufacturer of industrial goods and equipment, Mr. Krill’s duties include monitoring of commercial and product liability cases brought by and against clients nationwide, retaining and consulting local trial counsel, and coordinating efforts of in-house legal and support staff.
Mr. Krill has been named a Wisconsin Super Lawyer each year since 2005. Mr. Krill is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Bar Association, American Bar Association, Seventh Circuit Bar Association, American Trial Lawyers Association, and the Wisconsin Academy of Trial Lawyers. He is admitted to practice in Wisconsin, the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Wisconsin, and the U.S. Court of Appeals Seventh Circuit. Mr. Krill is fluent in Spanish.
